Privacy Policy

BrainToon respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Scope of this policy

This policy applies to BrainToon’s websites, mobile apps, and related services. If you access BrainToon through a third-party platform, that platform’s privacy policy may also apply.

Information we collect

  • Account and profile: email address, display name, user ID, marketing opt-in status.
  • Onboarding and preferences: quiz responses, interests, goals, reminder settings.
  • Usage and analytics: screens viewed, interactions, playback progress, content viewed, queue activity.
  • Device and app data: device model, OS version, app version, language, timezone, IP address.
  • Notifications: push token and notification settings.
  • Purchases: subscription status and transaction identifiers via the app stores.
  • Support: messages and metadata you send to us.
  • Advertising and attribution (if applicable): campaign source, referral data, or advertising identifiers.

Payments are handled by the app stores. We do not receive your full payment card details.

If we offer purchases on the web in the future, payments may be processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. We do not store full payment card details.

Crash and diagnostic data may include device state, app state at the time of an error, and technical identifiers needed to diagnose issues. This data is used solely to improve stability and performance.

Sources of information

  • Directly from you when you create an account, complete onboarding, or contact support.
  • Automatically from your device and app usage.
  • From app stores and payment providers when you purchase a subscription.
  • From service providers that help us run the app (analytics, crash reporting, notifications).

How we use information

  • Provide and improve BrainToon, including personalization and recommendations.
  • Operate accounts, authentication, and subscriptions.
  • Send important service communications and reminders.
  • Understand product usage with analytics and troubleshoot crashes.
  • Protect the service, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms.
  • Send marketing emails only if you opt in.
  • Measure marketing performance and attribution when you interact with our campaigns.

We use analytics services to understand how the app is used and to improve features. We do not allow analytics providers to use your data for their own advertising purposes.

We may create aggregated or de-identified data that does not reasonably identify you and use it for analytics and product improvement.

Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

  • Contract: to provide the service you request.
  • Consent: for optional features like marketing emails.
  • Legitimate interests: to improve and secure the app, prevent fraud, and understand usage.
  • Legal obligations: to comply with laws and enforce our rights.

Sharing

We share information with trusted service providers who help us run the app. We do not sell your personal data.

  • Supabase (authentication, database, storage)
  • PostHog (product analytics)
  • Sentry (crash reporting)
  • RevenueCat (subscription management)
  • Expo (notifications and device services)
  • Cloud hosting/CDN providers (media delivery)
  • Apple/Google app stores (billing and subscriptions)

We may also share information to comply with law, prevent fraud, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

Data retention

We retain data as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. For example, we keep account data while your account is active, retain analytics for a limited period to understand product performance, and keep certain records (such as billing or support correspondence) to meet legal or operational requirements. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Your privacy rights

  • Access, correct, delete, or request a copy of your data.
  • Request a portable copy of your data where applicable.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing where required by law.
  • Withdraw consent for optional features at any time.
  • Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link or in-app preferences.
  • Manage notifications in your device settings and in the app.

How to exercise your rights

Contact us at support@braintoonapp.com. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request. In some jurisdictions, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny a request, we will explain why, subject to applicable law.

Account deletion

You can request account deletion by emailing support@braintoonapp.com. We may retain limited information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce agreements. See Data Deletion Request for details. We aim to respond to deletion requests within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days, subject to legal requirements.

Children’s privacy

BrainToon is not intended for children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Sensitive information

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information. If you provide sensitive information, we use it only as needed to deliver the service, comply with law, or protect the security of our users and systems.

Cookies and tracking technologies

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to operate, measure performance, and improve the user experience. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Some features may not work without cookies.

Advertising and marketing choices

If we participate in advertising or attribution programs, you can limit personalized ads by adjusting your device settings. On iOS, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising. On Android, go to Settings > Privacy > Ads. You can also reset your device advertising identifier. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate, including the United States. We take steps to protect data transfers as required by law, such as using contractual safeguards where applicable.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send "Do Not Track" signals. Our website does not currently respond to these signals.

U.S. state privacy rights

If you are a resident of certain U.S. states (including California, Virginia, and others), you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain data uses. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@braintoonapp.com. If your request is denied, you may have the right to appeal depending on your state.

EEA/UK rights and complaints

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Links to third-party sites

Our services may link to third-party sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and may notify you in the app.
